About this role
The Associate Director of Digital Marketing and Communications leads digital strategy, execution, and performance across University Connected Learning. This role oversees paid and organic marketing, web content and updates, analytics and reporting, and integrated communications.
Working closely with creative, program, and leadership teams, this position translates business goals into clear digital strategies. Campaigns are executed across search, social, display, and web channels with ongoing optimization and performance tracking to drive measurable results.
Managing a cross-functional team spanning paid media, social media, web content, analytics, and communications, the Associate Director sets priorities and guides workflows. The role ensures reporting is accurate, consistent, and accessible to stakeholders while using data to inform future strategy.
This hybrid role requires residing in Utah and offers a blend of in-person and remote work flexibility. The University of Utah provides a comprehensive benefits package, and the department may hire at various job levels with associated pay ranges based on business need and budget.
Requirements
- Proven ability to translate business goals into clear digital strategies
- Experience leading digital marketing across paid and organic channels
- Strong understanding of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS to guide decisions and troubleshooting
- Experience managing cross-functional teams in a marketing environment
- Familiarity with CMS platforms such as Modern Campus
- Skilled in campaign planning, optimization, and performance reporting
Responsibilities
- Lead digital marketing strategy across paid and organic channels
- Translate program and enrollment goals into measurable digital campaigns
- Oversee campaign planning, execution, optimization, and performance tracking across search, social, display, and web
- Define and monitor KPIs and ensure consistent reporting across campaigns
- Oversee digital analytics and reporting using tools such as Google Analytics and Agency Analytics
- Oversee web content strategy, updates, and performance across CMS platforms, including Modern Campus
- Manage a cross-functional team including paid digital and media, social media, web content, and communications
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and lead A/B testing and optimization efforts across digital channels
