As Subject Manager for Environmental Systems and Societies, you will lead and manage the assessment process for this subject. You will ensure the reliability, accuracy and fairness of all assessments, from examination paper authoring to standardisation and grade award.

You will manage international teams of senior examiners, fostering collaboration and ensuring high-quality outputs. The role also involves close cooperation with other IB departments, particularly within the Education directorate, and representing the IB at international conferences and events.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification relevant to Environmental Systems and Societies
  • Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in educational assessment, teaching or research
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyse and draw conclusions from statistical information
  • Excellent spoken and written English (working language of the IB Assessment Centre)
  • Ability to lead and work within a team and foster a collaborative environment
  • Competence in using standard office software (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to agreed timelines and present effectively for various audiences

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of examiners, including senior examiners, for designated subjects
  • Lead authoring teams to produce high-quality assessments
  • Implement effective standardisation processes and monitor marking of assessment material
  • Lead grade award meetings to ensure grades are awarded fairly
  • Plan and manage expenses related to assessment for the designated subject(s)
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on assessment-related matters in a variety of languages
  • Represent the assessment perspective in curriculum review
