Michael Baker International is seeking an energetic leader to work collaboratively with technical leads to prepare winning proposals and presentations. The Proposal Specialist will partner with Business Development to lead the development of proposals and interviews within the company’s best practices framework.
The successful candidate will manage proposal development efforts, facilitating kick off meetings that define expectations and identifying tasks with assigned responsibilities. They will develop and manage adherence to proposal schedules, facilitate strategy discussions, and collaborate with technical writers to develop win themes.
This role requires a collaborative team player with equal parts creative and organized, possessing project management, writing, and page layout skills. The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership qualities, a collaborative mindset, superior communication skills, problem solving ability, and transparency.
A successful Proposal Specialist is a strategic thinker who pushes the status quo for continuous improvement. This position offers the opportunity to lead proposal development for a leading engineering firm, working remotely with a dynamic team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in planning, preparation, and development of architectural and engineering proposals and qualifications packages for private and government clients.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to focus on details and on the big picture.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and document organization skills.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign.
- Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage proposal development efforts from kickoff to delivery.
- Collaborate with proposal team and internal clients to prepare winning proposals, qualifications submittals, and interview presentations.
- Facilitate kick off meetings that define expectations and assign responsibilities.
- Develop and manage adherence to proposal schedules and facilitate proposal review meetings.
- Lead the team in the development of visual and written content for proposals; draft and/or edit proposal narrative as necessary.
- Facilitate strategy discussions and collaborate with team and technical writers to develop strategy and win themes.
- Coordinate final submittal production and delivery, occasionally including printing, binding, and shipping.
