About this role

The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk is one of the most diverse and collaborative groups, involved in healthcare provider interactions, regulatory strategies, medical education, and data collection. The Director, Stakeholder Engagement sets the strategic medical stakeholder engagement plan for assigned groups and executes these plans for medical affairs. This role leads without authority to drive business goals, including establishing NN medical presence with stakeholders.

Stakeholder engagement focuses on increasing disease awareness, improving screening and diagnosis, and informing medical management through plans for associations, congresses, partners, and other groups. The position works closely with TA-specific NNI and Global teams to co-create patient-focused strategies. It coordinates with Medical Director teams and field teams for aligned execution across functions.

This role reports to the Director, Strategic Partner Engagement, Medical Affairs, and collaborates with external partners like diagnostic companies and professional societies. Internal coordination includes MA professional association strategy, commercial, access, and legal/compliance teams. The SE serves as proxy for medical affairs leaders in strategic partnership governance.

Essential functions include leading strategic engagement plans, developing scientific resources and communications, and driving a culture of patient focus, inclusiveness, respect, curiosity, and entrepreneurism. Requirements

  • PharmD, PhD, MD or other advanced health degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years progressive pharmaceutical industry/relevant clinical/medical leadership experience required
  • Proven track record of success in establishing and leading business-to-business partnerships and stakeholder management
  • Experience in strategic medical stakeholder engagement plans for groups, associations, congresses, and partners
  • Ability to lead without authority to drive business goals in medical affairs
  • Knowledge of disease awareness, screening, diagnosis, and medical management initiatives
  • Effective collaboration across external partners and internal teams including commercial, access, and legal/compliance

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic engagement plans for relevant stakeholders as assigned
  • Work closely with the TA-specific NNI and Global teams to co-create medically appropriate and patient-focused strategy for external medical stakeholder engagement
  • Work directly with the Director, Medical Affairs Professional Association Strategy to ensure aligned planning and execution of projects and partnerships with key professional associations and societies
  • Coordinate activities and initiatives with Medical Director team and field teams to ensure aligned planning and execution within all TA functions
  • Lead the development and execution of overall strategies and plans for scientific resources, communications and training initiatives for the TA team and relevant cross-functional partners
  • Drive a culture of patient focus, inclusiveness, respect, curiosity, entrepreneurism and role model the Novo Nordisk way
