About this role
As a problem solver and entrepreneur, you drive business growth for Anton Paar's surface characterization instruments across the Central Region. You consult with customers on solutions for instrumented indentation, scratch testing, and tribology.
Your territory covers all Central states, and this remote position is based in the Chicago metropolitan area with easy airport access. You generate and develop new accounts, manage existing ones, and present to C-suite executives and technicians.

Your compensation includes a base salary of $104,500 to $118,300 and an uncapped commission plan that pays monthly from dollar one, plus full benefits, a profit-sharing 401k contribution, and a $10,000 anniversary bonus every five years.
Requirements
- Experience in technical sales, with analytical instruments sales strongly preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a natural science or engineering.
- Valid driver's license and passport.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and close complex sales cycles.
- Familiarity with surface characterization instruments (indentation, scratch testing, tribology) is a plus.
- Comfort with frequent travel (up to 50-60%) and overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Generate and develop new accounts and effectively manage existing accounts.
- Present to small and large audiences, including C-suite executives, production managers, and technicians.
- Qualify opportunities, develop proposals, and close business.
- Travel up to 50-60% (including overnight) for meetings, demonstrations, and installations.
- Conduct product demonstrations of surface characterization instruments, including indentation, scratch testing, and tribology.
- Cultivate relationships with academic and industrial key accounts to drive repeat business.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
