The firm seeks a highly motivated Restoration Design Engineer with 0-3 years of experience to support creek, river, floodplain, and wetland projects.

This position focuses on design, analysis, engineering, and drafting for restoration, engineering with nature, climate change resilience, and flood risk management projects. The role requires balancing multiple responsibilities and deadlines while solving simple to complex problems under senior supervision.

The Environmental Hydrology and Design team includes engineers, hydrologists, geomorphologists, and landscape architects working on multi-benefit habitat restoration. The team values creative thinking, cross-disciplinary integration, and collaboration across Northern California offices.

Candidates must work hybrid schedules of 2-3 days per week in the San Francisco, Oakland, or Petaluma office and travel as needed for team collaboration. The role offers opportunities to contribute to ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions throughout California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field with EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Education, training, or work experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D including surfaces, alignments, profiles, sections, and annotations.
  • Capable problem solver who can work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Effective communicator with excellent oral and writing skills to convey technical information clearly to individuals and small groups.
  • Collaborative team member able to combine in-person and remote teamwork using various communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, analysis, engineering, and drafting for creek, river, floodplain, and wetland restoration projects under direct supervision of a senior engineer or hydrologist.
  • Perform engineering tasks for nature-based solutions, climate change resilience, flood risk management, and other water resources projects.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and modeling to support restoration and floodplain projects.
  • Balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while working independently or on a team.
  • Independently solve simple to complex problems with appropriate direction, resources, and support.
