About this role
The position leads the data science initiative in all areas of BRR Plus’s responsibilities, including Pratt Industries and Visy. It provides professional knowledge and expertise in large data analytics to support operational improvements across designated facets. The role builds data and machine learning products to extract valuable business insights.
Daily tasks include identifying valuable data sources and automating collection processes. Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data, then analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns. Leverage programming skills to develop automated systems that improve business operations.
Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms, and present information using data visualization techniques. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate insights effectively. Assist all Pratt/Visy locations via remote login, video conferencing, or onsite support.
Provide direction, training, and development support while rolling out pre-developed tools and data products. Travel as required to support development at other Pratt/Visy locations. This role offers opportunities to apply and expand expertise in data science across manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- Experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst preferred
- Understanding of machine-learning and operations research preferred or demonstrated ability and desire to learn ML/AI methods
- Knowledge of DCS systems, Data Historians, and Data Analytics software such as dataParc, Seeq, Python
- Analytical mind and business acumen
- Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes
