We’re hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Risk engineering team in the Platform Product Group.

The Platform Product Group builds a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency, and quality across products and teams. The Risk team manages financial threats to the business and users by mitigating fraudulent activities at scale and improving detection of good user patterns. You’ll design next-generation core Risk platform architecture powering Coinbase.

Interact with stakeholders across organizations building products or handling financial operations. Participate in shaping the strategy and execution path of the Risk platform. Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise while mentoring team members.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in backend software engineering using Golang or similar languages
Proven track record of delivering impactful solutions that power significant risk flows
Designed, built, scaled and maintained high throughput and low latency production services
Experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
Strong technical knowledge of building distributed systems that process massive scale
Solid communication skills, ability to communicate to stakeholders with various technical and non-technical backgrounds
Relentless drive to set and perseverance to achieve ambitious goals
Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together

Responsibilities

Design and implement next generation core Risk platform architecture that powers Coinbase
Interact with stakeholders in many different organizations that build Coinbase products or are responsible for financial operations
Participate in shaping the strategy and execution path of Risk platform
Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with technical expertise
Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of customers
