About this role

The Senior Research Administration Associate provides grants administration support to the Department of Pediatrics and Texas Children's Hospital. Primary responsibilities include financial management activities of grants and managing the full award life cycle, from application to award closeout. Focuses on supporting the division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and others as assigned.

Handles cost assessment, budget development, financial set-up, resource allocation, and preparation of quarterly reports for budget accountability. Provides budget input and guidance to principal investigators, creates budget spreadsheets, and completes budget forms for submission and reporting. Assists with complex award submissions involving multi-center or division designs.

Reports through the Pediatrics Center for Research Advancement and Division leadership for key deliverables. Manages communications with BCM Accounting, Grants & Contracts, and collaborating institutions for sub-awards and consultant agreements. Serves as liaison ensuring compliance with federal, sponsor, and institutional policies between faculty, employees, learners, and sponsors.

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement after completing onboarding and training onsite, typically about 6 months. Hybrid employees may attend in-person meetings and trainings as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Certified Research Administrator certification through RACC
  • Four years of relevant experience
  • At least four years of relevant experience in grant application development, budgeting, and/or grant financial management
  • Working knowledge of sponsor application submission systems such as ASSIST, Workspace, and Proposal
  • Wide-depth of knowledge with relevant experience of contracts, subcontracts
  • Highly comfortable managing multiple projects at one time
  • Prior experience working in healthcare and/or academic research setting strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and data quality

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the post-award financial management activities of grants, from application to award closeout
  • Manages data of active, pending, and closed grants for the Pediatrics Center for Research Advancement
  • Provides budget input and guidance to principal investigators when drafting budget justifications
  • Assists with complex award submissions that have a multi-center/division design and budget
  • Communicates with BCM Accounting, Grants & Contracts, and collaborating institutions for sub-awards
  • Manages Cost/Effort allocations in PEPT/SAP for research faculty, employees, and learners
  • Manages the Time/Effort certification process in the BCM Effort Reporting System
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, sponsor, and institutional policies and guidelines
