About this role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist / AI Engineer to build and scale Generative AI applications. The role is permanent based in Stockholm or Helsinki in a hybrid model, expecting three days per week in the office. This is an English-speaking working environment.

You will join Nordea’s AI & Machine Learning team, part of the group financial crime prevention unit. The team of about 25 colleagues is based in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. We have launched Nordea’s first generative AI product and are building the next wave of high impact generative AI use cases.

Requirements

MSc or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field; equivalent practical experience valued
5 years+ experience building and deploying production ML/AI systems in Python
2 years+ experience developing generative AI applications using LLM APIs, RAG, modern orchestration, agent-based patterns or other relevant technologies
Strong systems design skills for ML & AI applications
Proven track-record of turning ideas into prototype, and prototype into production
Ability to evaluate and improve AI application quality using structured testing and experimentation
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

Identify and prototype high impact GenAI projects with business stakeholders
Build, deploy and monitor production-grade AI applications
Design robust evaluation approach to measure and improve application quality
Help shape best practices, tooling and architecture for Generative AI development
Support and mentor teammates through hands-on collaboration
Document models and process to meet risk and compliance standards for responsible and compliant use of AI
