About this role

LAB3 is one of Australasia’s largest Azure engineering practices, specialising in Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Security, and Networks. The company seeks a Senior Network Engineer for its Managed Services team to support and maintain steady state operations for clients.

The role focuses on ensuring client Azure networking environments remain secure, reliable, and high performing. It includes designing modern network services, keeping infrastructure running across SD-WAN, wireless, WAN, LAN, VPN, switching, endpoints, and firewalls, and acting as the go-to escalation point.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in network management and optimisation.
  • Experience managing external stakeholders within a Managed Services environment.
  • Australian citizen with NV1 clearance.
  • Based in Melbourne and comfortable working in a hybrid model.
  • Experience with the ITIL methodology (Incident, Change, Problem & Request management).
  • Exposure to Azure networking, Cloud On-Ramp, Express Route, and SD-WAN (Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet).
  • Experience with firewalls including Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, and Azure.
  • Python and PowerShell scripting for network automation, plus Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure client Azure networking environments are secure, reliable, and high performing on a day-to-day basis.
  • Design, deliver, and support modern network services and cloud access solutions.
  • Keep critical infrastructure running across SD-WAN, wireless, Azure networking, WAN, LAN, VPN, switching, endpoints, and firewalls.
  • Serve as the go-to escalation point for clients and internal teams, solving problems quickly.
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex performance issues and provide L1/L2/L3 support through to resolution.
  • Create and maintain quality Managed Services documentation, using AI where appropriate.
  • Spot opportunities to improve, automate, and modernise client network and IT services using IaC and CI/CD practices.
  • Participate in the on-call roster to deliver outstanding support when required.
