About this role

The Claims Consultant proactively manages a portfolio of Lump Sum claims in accordance with TAL’s claims philosophy, handling procedures, policy terms and conditions, and the Life Insurance Code of Practice. A key focus involves providing best-in-class customer and client experiences, including regular communication on claim status and managing expectations for quality health and claim outcomes.

Ensure compliance with TAL policies, procedures, and guidelines while adhering to external regulations like Privacy and the Life Insurance Code of Practice. Deliver high-quality, accurate, and compliant interactions with customers, advisers, trustees, fund administrators, and other stakeholders. Promote TAL’s customer service culture through proactive service.

Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in Life Insurance claims management with focus on Retail Income Protection Claims or Lump Sum Claims
  • Ability to build rapport and empathy with customers during difficult times
  • Commitment to delivering proactive, high quality customer service
  • Advanced time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Health or Allied Health (desirable)
  • Diploma or Cert IV in Life Insurance, or equivalent (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class customer and client experiences through regular communication and managing expectations
  • Ensure compliance with TAL policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Adhere to external regulations including Privacy and Life Insurance Code of Practice
  • Deliver high-quality, accurate, and compliant work to customers, advisers, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to process improvement and embed required change within the team
  • Support governance, quality assurance, and department or company projects
  • Maintain current knowledge of life insurance guidelines, processes, and policy changes
