About this role
Our National Conversation seeks to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America’s challenges. Powered by America’s youth, we host a media outlet and facilitate dialogue to make America better. We’re looking for 3-4 skilled on-air debaters for our monthly political podcast.
Present well-researched, persuasive arguments on political issues during structured debates via Zoom. Debates will be edited and posted onto social media platforms. Collaborate with the production team on prep and fact-checking as needed.
This remote role uses Zoom and Slack for coordination in a non-partisan solution platform. Maintain reliable availability, commitment to show guidelines, and support for the nonprofit’s mission. Preferred duration is at least six months, with possible multiple debates monthly based on ideas and success.
Build professional networking connections and gain resume-building experience. Contribute to reducing partisanship through persuasive on-air debate. Join a recurring role fostering effective policy dialogue.
Requirements
- Prior podcasting or broadcast experience (hosting, co-hosting, producing)
- Strong on-air presence and ability to engage listeners (charisma, storytelling)
- Journalism, political science, law, public policy, or related academic/professional background
- Experience moderating or adjudicating debates
- Proficient use of the English language (reading, writing, speaking)
- Social media presence or ability to help promote episodes
