About this role

This position works under the direct supervision of the Compliance Supervisor or Director and the Chief Compliance Officer. It collaborates closely with key stakeholders to implement elements of the Compliance and Ethics Program. The role ensures adherence to new and existing federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Perform ongoing activities for assigned areas, including development, implementation, maintenance of policies and procedures. Chair and coordinate meetings for assigned Compliance Committees. Develop compliance activities with oversight from the Compliance and Ethics Department, including assessments of controls and monitoring.

Identify potential compliance risks and take measures to resolve them. Facilitate an environment of open communication for reporting concerns without fear of retaliation. Investigate and document all reported compliance issues in a timely manner, updating compliance databases.

Evaluate compliance program activities and institute changes to reflect current laws and best practices. Assist with execution of the annual compliance work plan for assigned entities. Function as the assigned entities’ Compliance Officer or HIPAA Privacy Officer, educating personnel on the program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations affecting healthcare
  • Experience in compliance risk assessment, monitoring, and control development
  • Ability to investigate compliance issues and maintain detailed documentation
  • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements and serving as Privacy Officer
  • Skills in chairing compliance committees and coordinating meetings
  • Proficiency in evaluating and updating compliance programs and policies
  • Understanding of integrating compliance into quality and risk management programs

Responsibilities

  • Chair and coordinate meetings for assigned Compliance Committees
  • Develop and implement compliance activities for assigned areas, including periodic assessment of controls and monitoring
  • Identify areas of potential compliance risk and take appropriate measures to resolve that risk
  • Facilitate environment of open communication allowing employees to report compliance concerns without fear of retaliation
  • Evaluate compliance program activities in assigned areas and institute changes to reflect current laws and best practices
  • Ensure assigned areas have internal controls, monitoring, and specialized auditing procedures for consistent compliance
  • Investigate and document all reported compliance issues, including those from the Compliance Hotline
  • Educate personnel about the Compliance and Ethics program, assessing education needs
