As a Lead Software Engineer (Platform Reliability & Security), you will lead the build of key technical projects that keep Deputy’s production platform reliable, safe and recoverable. You will be part of the Platform team, looking after reliability and security aspects of system services and infrastructure. Working closely with the central Security team and other engineering leadership to build foundational systems.
Lead the team that builds paved paths enabling other engineering teams to build secure and reliable services. Make technical decisions and own the roadmap across platform reliability, observability, incident management, cloud & network security. Uphold high standards including encryption at rest and in transit, and DR/BCP execution.

Requirements
- Skilful engineer with high standards and passion for quality
- Problem solver able to tackle highly complex and ambiguous problems
- Experience balancing risks in platform reliability and security domains
- Expertise in observability platforms, incident management, and DORA metrics
- Knowledge of cloud & network security, infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Proficiency in alert hygiene, MTTR improvement, vulnerability remediation, and hardening coverage
- Ability to make technical decisions and own roadmaps for reliability and security
- Technical leadership and mentorship skills for engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Lead the team that builds paved paths to enable other engineering teams to build secure and reliable services
- Make technical decisions and own the roadmap across platform reliability and infrastructure security - observability platform, incident management, cloud & network security, infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement across reliability (alert hygiene, MTTR, DORA) and security (vulnerability remediation, hardening coverage) outcomes
- Uphold a high bar of engineering, quality & security standards - including encryption at rest and in transit for production data, and DR/BCP execution across regions
- Collaborate with other parts of the business to discover and estimate solution options to key strategic initiatives
- Deliver technical solutions within estimated timeframes in a get-things-done, iterative manner
- Influence and problem solve with Sr, Mid and Jr engineers to deliver high quality outcomes through technical leadership and mentorship
- Contribute to technical leadership team, driving standards, ways of working and platform decision making as a player-coach
