We’re on a mission to modernize insurance, making it simpler, more accessible, and customer-first. The $1T insurance industry remains largely untouched by the digital revolution, and PolicyMe aims to change that. As a remote-first Toronto-based startup, we seek a People & Culture Generalist to build the future of insurance.

You’ll be at the center of our People team, owning key processes and systems for great employee experiences from first day to last. Support and improve programs across onboarding, performance, engagement, and day-to-day operations. This role suits those extremely accountable who work quickly but with intention.

Manage employee data, benefits coordination, social events including in-person gatherings twice yearly, and our downtown Toronto office frequented on Thursdays. Partner with IT, Finance, and others for seamless onboarding and offboarding. Serve as trusted contact for HR inquiries while owning metrics and reporting.

Help deliver core people programs like performance reviews, engagement initiatives, and team culture efforts. Support time-sensitive projects for the VP, People & Culture. Build thoughtful experiences that help humans and teams perform at their best in a high-growth environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an HR, People Operations, or People & Culture role, ideally in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong knowledge of core HR practices across employee lifecycle management, people operations, and compliance
  • Experience supporting people programs such as onboarding, performance management, engagement, and policy administration
  • ‘Yes, I can help’ attitude to support People team and all employees
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust across teams and levels
  • Comfortable working with HR systems, documentation, and process improvement
  • Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive and confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Manage all employee data within People systems including onboarding, role changes, promotions, terminations with focus on accuracy
  • Own onboarding and offboarding experiences, partnering closely with IT and Finance
  • Support execution of performance reviews, engagement surveys, and company-wide people programs including coordination, communications, and reporting
  • Own coordination with benefits provider and ensure employees maximize the program
  • Fully own company social events including planning and execution of in-person events twice a year, virtual and team events
  • Manage downtown Toronto office support and coordination of activities on Thursdays
  • Coordinate annual gifting to celebrate the year and bring joy to employees
  • Own metrics and reporting across responsible areas and support VP projects
