Mudflap serves the $800B trucking industry, the backbone of the U.S. economy. Market-leading payment products help truckers save thousands on fuel while connecting fuel stop partners with new customers. The Corporate Controller reports to the CFO and leads Mudflap’s accounting organization.

You oversee a high-performing team and build a best-in-class accounting function that scales with growth. This strategic and operational role requires deep expertise in public company readiness, technical accounting, and global financial operations. You ensure financial integrity while driving operational excellence.

The role involves managing accounting leaders and professionals in a high-performance, accountable culture. It balances in-office collaboration with remote work through a hybrid approach. You partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, RevOps, and Product teams.

You play a critical role preparing Mudflap for its next stage of growth. This includes establishing scalable systems, controls, and reporting infrastructure. The position offers the chance to influence strategic decisions in a fast-growing marketplace business.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in high-growth companies.
  • Proven experience as a Corporate Controller, VP of Accounting, or Head of Accounting with responsibility for leading and scaling teams.
  • Strong experience with public companies and/or IPO readiness, including SOX compliance and external reporting.
  • Background in global accounting operations, including managing international entities and distributed teams.
  • CPA required; Big 4 or top-tier public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in GAAP, technical accounting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with modern accounting systems such as NetSuite and building scalable financial infrastructure.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented mindset paired with strategic thinking and the ability to operate at both altitude and depth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the global accounting function, overseeing general ledger, financial reporting, AP/AR, payroll, and tax.
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting leaders and professionals, fostering a high-performance, accountable culture.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to deliver timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial statements.
  • Establish and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance and public company readiness.
  • Serve as a key partner in public company readiness efforts, including systems, controls, reporting, and audit infrastructure.
  • Oversee external audits, tax compliance, and relationships with auditors, advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership on complex areas such as revenue recognition, financial instruments, equity, and international operations.
  • Drive global accounting operations as the company expands internationally, including multi-entity and multi-currency environments.
