About this role

The Senior Research Administration Associate provides grants administration support to the Department of Pediatrics and Texas Children's Hospital. Primary responsibilities include financial management activities of grants and managing the full award life cycle from application to award closeout. The role focuses on supporting the division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hospital Medicine, and others as assigned.

Daily tasks involve cost assessment, budget development, financial set-up, resource allocation, and preparation of quarterly reports for budget accountability. This includes managing data for active, pending, and closed grants, providing budget input to principal investigators, and handling complex award submissions with multi-center designs.

The position reports through the Pediatrics Center for Research Advancement and Division leadership for key deliverables. It supports researchers in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hospital Medicine, and other Pediatrics Divisions, while communicating with BCM Accounting, Grants & Contracts, and collaborating institutions for sub-awards and agreements.

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement after completing onboarding and training on site, with occasional in-person meetings and trainings required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Certified Research Administrator certification through RACC
  • Four years of relevant experience
  • Wide-depth of knowledge with relevant experience of contracts and subcontracts
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at one time
  • Experience in grant application development, budgeting, and/or grant financial management
  • Working knowledge of sponsor application submission systems such as ASSIST, Workspace, and Proposal
  • Prior experience working in healthcare and/or academic research setting
  • Strong attention to detail and data quality

Responsibilities

  • Manage post-award financial management activities of grants from application to award closeout
  • Manage data of active, pending, and closed grants for the Pediatrics Center for Research Advancement
  • Provide budget input and guidance to principal investigators when drafting budget justifications
  • Assist with complex award submissions that have a multi-center/division design and budget
  • Communicate with BCM Accounting, Grants & Contracts, and collaborating institutions for sub-awards
  • Manage Cost/Effort allocations in PEPT/SAP for research faculty, employees, and learners
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, sponsor, and institutional policies and guidelines
  • Lead monthly meetings with PIs regarding grant financials
