About this role
The Payroll Specialist Lead is a critical role within Remote's dynamic global payroll organization, responsible for delivering accurate and compliant payroll operations within assigned countries. This position contributes to improving and scaling global payroll processes while working closely with internal stakeholders across Payroll Operations, Tax, Finance, Product, and Customer Success.
Day-to-day responsibilities include owning end-to-end payroll execution for Poland, validating inputs, performing calculations, and managing post-payroll processes. You will act as a subject matter expert on country-specific payroll requirements, staying current with legislative and regulatory developments that may impact operations.
You will coordinate with diverse payroll partners and collaborate cross-functionally in a globally distributed, asynchronous work environment. The role is well-suited for a mid-to-senior career payroll operations professional with deep hands-on experience running payroll in complex settings.

Requirements
- Mid-to-senior career experience in Polish payroll operations with hands-on responsibility for end-to-end payroll processing in Poland.
- Experience managing payroll in multi-country environments or global organizations.
- Strong understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills for complex payroll scenarios.
- Strong written and oral communicator, comfortable working in asynchronous and globally distributed environments.
- Takes ownership of outcomes, raises risks early, and approaches operational challenges with curiosity and accountability.
- Demonstrates strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
Responsibilities
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with country-specific regulations and statutory requirements.
- Own end-to-end payroll execution for assigned jurisdictions, including validation of payroll inputs, payroll calculations, and post-payroll processes.
- Act as a subject matter expert on country payroll requirements, staying up to date with legislative, tax, and regulatory developments.
- Support the operational implementation and rollout of payroll services in new or expanding jurisdictions.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across Payroll Operations, Tax, Finance, Product, and Customer Success to drive payroll excellence.
- Coordinate with external payroll partners to ensure smooth payroll delivery.
- Contribute to improving and scaling global payroll processes through automation and AI capabilities.
