About this role

Join Canva's Training Platform team within the AI Platform group in the Generative AI supergroup. Responsible for systems that power model training at scale, enabling teams to create and scale AI-powered experiences. Focus on building reliable, efficient, developer-friendly training infrastructure from orchestration to experimentation.

Design, scale, and mature Kubernetes-based training platform for distributed AI workloads across teams, frameworks, and use cases. Contribute to end-to-end training lifecycle capabilities like experiment management and artifact management. Improve reliability, scalability, usability, and platform maturity over time.

Collaborate closely with research scientists, AI engineers, product teams, and cloud/infrastructure teams. Work on systems behind AI, ensuring workloads run efficiently, reproducibly, and reliably at scale. Enable teams across Canva to push boundaries of what's possible with AI.

Shape the platform roadmap by understanding user pain points and contributing to long-term direction. Mentor engineers and share best practices in AI systems and infrastructure. Ideal for those seeking broad impact across multiple teams.

Requirements

Experience building systems that power AI at scale
Strong background in designing scalable ML training infrastructure
Proficiency with Kubernetes for distributed AI workloads
Knowledge of distributed training systems and orchestration
Experience with experimentation and platform capabilities for AI workloads
Ability to collaborate with research scientists and infrastructure teams
Skills in improving reliability and observability for training systems

Responsibilities

Contribute to the evolution of Canva’s unified training platform for AI training workloads
Improve reliability, observability, debugging, and operational support for training systems
Design and build platform capabilities for scheduling at scale, including resource allocation, priority management, and quota management
Collaborate closely with research scientists, ML engineers, product teams, and cloud/infrastructure teams to improve workflows
Contribute to system design and architecture decisions across Canva’s AI Platform
Help shape platform roadmap and priorities based on user pain points and long-term maturity
Mentor engineers and share best practices in AI systems and infrastructure
