About this role
Ameritas seeks an Assistant Actuary for the Corporate Actuarial Projections team. This role serves as a department subject matter expert on actuarial model use cases. The detail-oriented professional ensures risk management, profitability, and compliance while delivering actionable insights for business decisions.
Daily tasks include running and analyzing recurring models like Asset Liability Management, ORSA compliance, Cash Flow Testing, Risk Based Capital, Liquidity Testing, and Financial Forecasting. Perform dynamic and static validations, including analysis of change, results, policy audits, and initial values. Set up, test, validate, and maintain models for specified use cases.
Collaborate with team members to deliver timely results supporting strategic decisions. Respond to requests from actuaries, accountants, auditors, management, associates, and external stakeholders. Provide guidance, training, and peer review for other actuarial associates while working with organization stakeholders on initiatives.
This hybrid or remote position offers involvement in process improvements, Prophet model development lifecycle, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
- 3-5+ years of actuarial modeling experience, preferably with indexed life and/or annuity with living benefit experience
- Advanced knowledge of insurance products and concepts, actuarial theory and techniques, and regulation of the insurance industry
- Ability to balance competing priorities to produce high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to accurately perform detailed calculations with a high-level of understanding
- Ability to clearly and thoroughly document assumptions, decisions, processes, and other work performed
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities

- Identify and support process improvements
- Support Prophet model development lifecycle adhering to Model Risk Management policies and procedures
- Compile and analyze data using statistical formulas and other actuarial methods
- Set up, test, validate, and maintain actuarial models for specified use cases
- Help implement procedures to comply with new regulatory, control, or governance requirements
