The University of Colorado Denver's Political Science Department invites applications for a part-time Program Director of the Center for New Directions in Politics and Public Policy. This 50% FTE hybrid role is term-limited to one year and dependent on funding. It falls under Academic Services Program Director official title.

The Center provides graduate-level academic programs, courses, and research in politics and public policy. It develops leadership capacities to address public challenges in local communities, governmental jurisdictions, and nonprofit entities. The Program Director reports to the Department Chair.

Requirements

  • Experience in political science department administration
  • Knowledge of graduate-level programs in politics and public policy
  • Background in developing academic and professional opportunities for public sector professionals
  • Familiarity with leadership development for governmental and nonprofit entities
  • Understanding of local community challenges and public policy applications
  • Administrative skills in higher education extended studies programs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Center for New Directions in Politics and Public Policy under supervision of the Department Chair
  • Provide graduate-level academic programs and courses focused on politics and public policy
  • Conduct research in areas of politics and public policy
  • Develop leadership capacities necessary to address public challenges and opportunities
  • Offer professional development opportunities to government officials and public policy professionals
  • Support community organizing and development practitioners at the local level
  • Manage the Department’s Extended Studies Graduate Program
