Remote Project Oversight Manager

US · Full-time · $110,000 – $140,000

About this role

ECS is seeking a remote Project Oversight Manager. This position identifies project goals, objectives, and scope, creating project plans and documentation outlining tasks, timelines, and resources required. It works directly with the Manager, team members including employees and contractors, communicates with stakeholders, manages risks and issues, monitors progress, and provides reporting to upper management.

Day-to-day involves working alongside approximately 12 Intake, Modeling, and Data Science team members plus the Manager to develop realistic project schedules amid changing priorities and resource availability. Handling two to three dozen customer projects plus non-project deliverables with longer timelines requires maintaining a master team calendar of deliverable due dates, security reviews, and leave schedules accessible to all.

The role attends IR kickoff meetings, collaborates with Intake Coordinators to identify tasks and due dates, flags potential risks across Data Asset Services. It supports work allocation, proactively reminds team members and managers of deadlines, and assists Directors’ project manager in sprint closings and updates. The environment involves USPS-related projects, Postal terminology, and organizational structure.

Growth includes becoming knowledgeable enough to write independent status updates, paraphrase project details, and gain expertise in tools like VersionOne, Teams, and Office suite for team support. Sole responsibility for tasks emerges from learning 'how things work' in the organization. This supports ongoing project oversight in a dynamic data science and modeling team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project and program management
  • Familiarity with cloud computing terminology including providers, security risks, legal compliance such as SOX, and scalability
  • Familiarity with basic Data Governance such as naming standards for data tables and attributes
  • Familiarity with software development including environments (DEV, SIT, CAT, PROD)
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent client-facing (other USPS teams) and internal (team) communications skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Intake, Modeling, and Data Science team members (approximately 12) and the Manager to develop realistic project schedules given changing priorities and resource availability
  • Maintain a master team calendar of deliverable due dates, security reviews, and leave schedules accessible to the entire team
  • Proactively remind team members, Manager, and PCES Manager of upcoming deadlines to meet them ahead of schedule
  • Support the manager in allocating work across team members
  • Attend IR kickoff meetings, work with Intake Coordinator(s) to identify tasks and due dates, and share potential risks across Data Asset Services
  • Write status updates independently and paraphrase/summarize project work
  • Provide support and guidance on software like VersionOne, Teams, and Office suite
  • Support the Directors’ project manager in sprint closings, periodic updates, and as needed
